Howard_Dick and Carey Instructional Design_Professional Workshop_1 (1)

Using the Dick and Carey model of instructional design, I developed a professional workshop and delivered it to aspiring educators studying at Middle Georgia State University. I provided interactive study focusing on the elevation of instruction using technology.  I utilized the digital learning tool Lumio by SMART to demonstrate how this SMART tool might be used to create engaging learning experiences for students.

Book Trailer Storyboard

the storyboard

In alignment with the standard 5, I designed the book trailer about the book entitled, "Pete the Cat," by author Jim Dale. My goal was to promote interest in this book by designing an attractive audiovisual experience for the viewer.  The storyboard provides a snapshot of the design process involved in creating this design.

ARTIFACTS 4 AND 5

This artifact demonstrates the design process for my Google Jam. It includes my scripted lesson with detailed instructions for delivery.

The artifact demonstrates my role as a designer in creating the instructional lesson on the functionalities of Google Jam.

REFLECTION

Reflection: I have a new appreciation for all of the research, time, and activity required to design an exceptional instructional unit. I have learned the systematic processes by which instruction is designed and the importance of aligning instruction with participant needs.

Aligned with standard 5, I have designed a professional development workshop for aspiring educators currently in their senior year of undergraduate study. The workshop along with digital tools instruct the participants on the use of technology in instruction in alignment with content standards.  Included in my design are examples of interactive digital activities, tools, and resources to designed to prepare and instruct the future educator.

Additionally, I designed a book trailer that is both engaging and instructional. Using multiple web tools, I was able to create a book trailer that I believe students will enjoy. During the design process, I was challenged to be innovative while applying the skills that I acquired in this program.  I learned to edit, review, write, rehearse, and deliver a quality product. As I continue to grow in the area of Instructional Technology, I will continue to challenge myself, my students, and in partnership, my fellow educators.
